The Wembley Stadium, popularly known as the ‘venue of legends’, has been furnished with yet another logo design for its brand identity. This is the sixth logo in the history of the Wembley Stadium. The new stadium was rebuilt in 2007 with a design by Foster + Partners and Populous.

Inspiration behind the Logo Design:

The latest brand identity has been designed by London-based agency Bulletproof and accurately reflects the iconic status of the stadium. The logo design is inspired by the new Wembley Stadium design and goes with the tagline “Inspiring memories”. It portrays the trademark 1,000-feet arch of the new stadium very aptly.

The Wembley Stadium logo design has witnessed several changes over the past three decades. The first logo was introduced in the 70’s that lasted through the decade. Then, logo redesigns occurred in the 80’s, followed by two in the 90’s and the last one in 2002. Following is a chronology of the Wembley logo transformation from the 1970’s to date.

Other Logos in the Wembley Identity Family:

A recent press release explained that the tagline was introduced to signify Wembley as an iconic place for sporting events in the UK. The identity concept is visibly consistent across all other logotypes of the Wembley Stadium. The logo design for other sub-brands like Wembley stadium, Wembley consultancy and Wembley Special Events are more or less designed on similar pattern with minor tweaks in the color scheme. Following are the other logotypes that constitute the Wembley brand identity family.

Do you think that the new brand identity of Wembley Stadium will live up to its expectations? Does it really portray the true essence of an iconic sporting arena?

Do you consider this scalable for the web?

The one from the 70’s is clearly the best. This one is going to look mighty outdated in a year or two.

What do you think about it?
