| While the world witnessed a futile climate convention at Copenhagen last year, the McDonald’s franchises in Europe are playing their part in environmental awareness through their new logo design. The world famous yellow-colored “M” logo design is going on a hunter green background. | ||

Vice Chairman of McDonald’s Germany, Mr. Hoger Beek said |

"With this new appearance we want to clarify our responsibility for the preservation of natural resources. In the future we will put an even larger focus on that,"

While the world’s largest food chain has made no major changes to its logo design, it has simply adopted a new colored background for its “M” sign. Franchises all across Europe have started using the new logo design that replaces the traditional red color background with the “hunter green” backdrop signifying McDonald’s efforts for environmental awareness. After witnessing a new EU organic logo, member countries of the EU have taken the initiative of promoting environmental awareness as well.
The German franchises have already taken the lead in this cause and more than 100 McDonald’s franchises in Germany have started using the “Hunter green” McDonald’s logo design. Martin Nowicki, McDonald’s spokesman in Germany said |

| "This is not only a German initiative but a Europe wide initiative," | ||

I think the idea is good but green color doesnt atract to eat. few years ago Heinz launched green Ketchup but it didnt make me feel to eat it. It was rather disturbing.

Right. McDonald’s cares about the environment. They are going to have to do a lot more than a green logo.

I think that it is a great idea. It is sad that the idea only came around after much criticism and that McDonald’s did not feel the responsibility to do this without pressure but at least now it is a step in the right direction rather than ignoring a growing problem and only having a concern for profits.
I really quite like the green colour too. I think it would be nice if this was a global effort and would really help to deliver the message with a global consistency of the new logo.
