10 Brand Package Designs – Celebrating the World Cup fever!

With the FIFA world cup 2010 fever running high all across the world, corporations are striving to get their logo design in the limelight. The fevered competition yields great opportunities for corporate entities to display their logos as a part of official sponsorship of the event.

While some of the top brands are showing their endorsements of World Cup through their logo designs, other companies are voluntarily displaying their support for their national teams through their revised packaging designs. There is no doubt that this promotional activity will ultimately provide increased market recognition and sales.

Here are 10 of most wonderful package redesigns that top brands and corporations have adopted as a part of the World Cup 2010 campaign:

 
 
 

1. Budweiser

Metal packaging manufacturer Exal has produced limited-edition bottles of Budweiser especially for the FIFA World Cup 2010. The 473ml bottle, which is available for both the on-trade market and in supermarkets, has been designed to reduce spillage and feel cold in the hand. Budweiser is the official beer of this summer’s World Cup in South Africa.

 
 

2. Haribo

HARIBO, the UK’s leading gums and jellies brand, has unveiled limited edition World Cup packaging for its famous Football Mix. The football themed gums and jellies have received a World Cup 2010 makeover with special limited edition packaging in national colors, featuring the brands much loved Goldbear character.

 
 

3. CocaCola

Coca Cola in Saudi Arabia has launched the World Cup special edition of its glass bottles. Launched in June 2010, these bottles portray the colors depicted in the World Cup 2010 logo. The Coca Cola trademark is inscribed in white color to complement with the vivid color of the bottle that demonstrate the World Cup fervor.

 
 

4. Axe

The famous deodorant brand “Axe”, popular mostly among the young generation, has launched its World Cup packaging design of its deodorant bottles. This promotional campaign has specifically been initiated in Chile and Mexico. This packaging redesign to commemorate the great event was done in April 2010. The new design has “Play AXE 2010” written on it with vivid colors.

 
 

5. Mars

For the first time in 78 years, Mars has decided to launch a new packaging design that supports the English team in the World Cup 2010. Mars is to show its support for England in this summer’s World Cup after calling on JKR to transport the first exit from its typical black wrapper in 78 years. In April, the black chocolate bar is being sold in a white wrapper featuring the St George Cross and made by one of the former Alcan sites that now belong to Amcor.

 
 

6. Gillette

Being an official sponsor of the coveted event, Gillette has redesigned its shaving foam can to incorporate a World Cup special design. The new design is a sleek and different design from the previous one and includes the emblem of the FIFA World Cup 2010 “Official Sponsor”.

 
 

7. SAB Miller:

The beer brewing company SAB Miller’s South African subsidiary has launched a beer can that is turned into a cup by removing the entire lid in time for this year’s World Cup. The can with full aperture end forms part of SAB’s plans for the football World Cup and removes the need for glasses or other installations at stadiums.

 
 

8. Knacki Ball sausage balls

The German brand Herta has joined the World Cup celebrations with its latest package design of its “Knacki Ball sausage balls”. The new package includes the addition “Edition 2010” and was launched in April 2010. Although it is not a full-fledged redesign, the brand has revamped to celebrate the coveted event.

 
 

9. Skinny Bola corn snacks

Brazilian favorite “Skinny Bola corn snacks” has witnessed a package redesign to rejoice the World Cup fever. The new design is being used in the market since April 2010 and includes a typical Brazilian touch. The “Skiny Bola” cartoon is depicted in a Brazil jersey paying football.

 
 

10. Maruha Nichiro

While all the European and American companies are in the hunt for a place in the World Cup limelight, the Japanese countries are also joining the package redesign fever. Japanese brand “Maruha Nichiro Foods sausage” has launched its new package design in March 2010. The Pack includes a PP outer wrapper and a PVDC inner wrapper.

    At first glance i could not recognize the Coca Cola bottle because of its multi colour package redesign…but it is a very unique design keeping in mind the world cup zeal and passion.

    The most neat and tidy package redesigns were the Mars and Gillete as you can still recognize the real brand that is printed on the package.

    Interesting to see what they can do with brand package designing…. all of these are quite praiseworthy deisgns…but what in the world have they done with AXE, its hilarious :D
