Coca-Cola Environmental Packaging – An innovative concept!!

Mar 30, 2010 | Categories: Corporate Logos | Written By: Sam Anderson

The political leaders might not have been able to strike a deal at the Copenhagen climate conference, but people are not giving up the struggle for environmental awareness. After we witnessed corporate environmental awareness through McDonald’s hunter green logo, another valiant endeavor has come to light. Recently, a mind-blowing design concept was introduced by Andrew Kim, student of Industrial Design, with his inspirational packaging design for Coca Cola bottles. The innovative Eco-Coke design concept introduced by a young student Andrew illustrates Coke bottles made of 100% organic materials.

Innovative Design Features of Eco-Coke:

While the concept does not alter the Coca Cola logo design in anyway, it features some very unorthodox and inventive modifications to the packaging design. One of the biggest features in this concept is that the bottle, unlike any other conventional beverages, is shaped in a collapsible and more cubical form. This helps in conserving material, carrying space and shelf space. The flat-cap design enables easy stacking of bottles and the unique positioning of the cap facilitates easy drinking. The materials used in the conceptual design are byproducts, mainly of sugarcane. That makes it 100% recyclable.

Do you think this thoughtful effort should be executed by Coca Cola or it will spoil its image as a thirst quencher? Are you ready for the replacement of the curvy bottle that fits your hand comfortably?

Some good work. Agree square profile makes transit more efficient.
But what is the sleeve made from? plastic? what sort? uses more plastic than present shrink-sleeve?
How does use of sugarcane make it “100% recyclable”?

interesting concept, but how will brand loyalists feel about abandoning the classic shape of the coke bottle that is a strong branding element

I love the design and thought behind it. If Coke does go with this, even for a summer. The results could push other companies to follow suit, resulting in a new craze of bio-degradable packaging!
