Two of Europe’s leading economies are set for a corporate union as UK’s flight carrier British Airways and Spain’s Iberia Airlines have finally signed the merger deal. The long awaited agreement will lead to formation of one of the world’s largest airlines. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of this year. It follows an interim agreement reached at the end of last year.

Under the proposed terms of the agreement, the national flag-carriers of UK and Spain would be amalgamated into a new company with the name International Airlines Group. However, both corporate brands would continue operating under the umbrella brand. The new corporate merger will comprise of 408 aircraft to 200 destinations, serving an estimated 58 million passengers each year. The board of directors of both corporations articulate that the merger will save them euro400 million ($530 million) annually.
Willie Walsh, BA’s chief executive, said

"The merged company will provide customers with a larger combined network. It will also have greater potential for further growth by optimizing the dual hubs of London and Madrid and providing continued investment in new products and services."

After the corporate merger, it has been established that both the brands will operate under respective logo designs. But the object of interest will be the new logo for the mutually formed conglomerate “International Airlines Group”.

What do you think the new logo design for the merger group should be? Should it be a merger of both the logos? Or should it adopt an entirely new logo design?
